Love’s Alchemy

‘Love’s Alchemy’ ❤️

Love, that is all to do with physiology,

So ‘tis said, ‘tis nothing metaphysical.

Love’s ascent at bottom mere biology,

What my brain gifts me that’s chemical.

Sighing, longing, dreaming frantically

To be with you, because of oxytocin.

With you, be it sexually or romantically,

Side by side with my object of devotion.

Love is feeling good, for this we thank

Dopamine. When doing the pleasurable,

Kissing and caressing upon a river bank,

And loving you with love immeasurable.

From whence, when love does notice me,

Does my feeling good about me sprout?

Giddiness, drowsiness, and writing poesy,

Serotonin gifts me that, is there a doubt?

‘Tis rather alchemy its wonders making.

You, my adorable alembic, sweet retort,

In your fair hands this base matter taking,

Transmuting it into a purer, nobler sort.
