The Wisdom of Love

‘The Wisdom of Love’

Philosophy is the love of wisdom,

But I speak of the wisdom of love.

A philosopher can build his system.

‘Whereof one cannot speak thereof

One must be silent’ he is then told.

Of life the most important aspects,

The aesthetical, the ethical, unfold,

The metaphysical too, all subjects

To bewilder the mind. Such matter

Let it display itself, why blur our

Vision with some tedious chatter?

The same is said of love’s power.

What falsehood! Declare in poesy:

‘When Love speaks, the voice of

All the gods makes heaven drowsy

With the harmony’. The choice of

Words flow freely from all those

In love. As from the Pierian spring

Drinking deep, caught in the throes

Of murkiness and muteness shining

Love shed her light on me. And see

With my sweet love’s benevolence,

How inspiration breathed thru’ me,

Gifting me a new found eloquence.
