Love’s Reason

‘Love’s Reason’
‘Do not all charms fly at the mere touch
Of cold philosophy?’ so asks the poet.
And of my love can I protest too much,
And may I on my love too fondly dote?
My Lady Philosophy has warm hands,
I dream glorious dreams at her caress.
My rational imagination then expands.
Of love once unthought I now express.
Loving you this much is to wisely love,
Love’s truth unveiled by the categories,
To be, become, of essence to speak of,
Leading me to undreamt of territories.
Yet ‘tis love that inspires my discourse,
Love’s reason illuminates all philosophy.
It gives to logic life and I feel its force,
My love for you is all truth and honesty.
