The Essence of Love.

‘The Essence of Love’.

Of being we can reason there are two strata,

An unchanging lower, diversity in the higher,

A doubled form of being, ‘tis love’s schemata,

Indeed its essence, a vision of actuality entire.

My loving you has its outer rind of difference,

Erratic and capricious, and some mischief too,

Held up by an inner core, heavenly jouissance,

There lies my essential love that’s forever true.

So it is the essence of love has its dual aspect,

The most needed and that which simply seems.

Appearances are fugitive, our own selves reflect.

Underneath, essential love that all else redeems.

So, my love, there’s your material embodiment,

Loveliness, and the pleasingly sensual to view.

‘Tis the medium to reveal your spiritual content,

For a vision of the Absolute shines through you.
